How should I recover this partition?
Hi guys, I just used the [email protected] Partition recovery on my computer in an attempt to find the recovery partition, and look what it's found!!
Attachment 233169 It found the HDD recovery image, and it's around 10 gigabytes! I think that's it! Now, before I go messing around further when I recover it, what settings should I choose? Attachment 233170 I just want to know because I might screw it up and lose the partition :/ Thanks! |

You might not have to change any settings at all. I believe the usual way to access the recovery partition is to:
Using Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility from the recovery partition How to use the Toshiba HDD Recovery Utility |

Have you made a Win 7 install DVD or thumb drive yet? If not I wouldn't go fooling around with that partition.

I'll have to try that tomorrow, if I do it now I'll annoy everybody, probably.
![]() Whenever I used to try that my computer would beep for about 10 seconds, and it was REALLY loud... Is there a way to tone it down, so it's a bit quieter? I will do the 0 key thing tomorrow, at least everyone's awake! :) |

Has your Recovery Partition gone missing in Disk Mgmt?
Post back a screenshot of the maximized Disk Mgmt drive map and listings using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu, so we can see. If it's actually missing then I'd use Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help. It will replace it right where it was, although you'll have to make space if you've already moved something there. If it's not missing then cue it up to see if it will run from boot, then make your Recovery Disks so you have a backup and will know better if it runs. |

@gregrocker I think it has gone missing in diskmgmt.
Attachment 233314 There's my C: drive, and the Windows Recovery Environment, which doesn't have a drive letter (That's what Windows calls the recovery partition, but I know it's not). If the recovery partition was in there, shouldn't it have a third partition and be called HDDRECOVERY? At least, in the [email protected] program it's there. I saw another screenshot of somebody's diskmgmt, and it had the 10.21 GB 3rd partition. They had a Toshiba laptop. |

If Recovery was there on a third partition then you must have done some work on your partitioning that deleted it and extended C into the space.
I'd boot free Partition Wizard Partition Recovery Wizard - Video Help to see if it finds anything, although if so it will want you to clear space from C to replace it. It's much harder to find a partition or data when its been partitioned over anyway. May I ask what modification you've made of your Disk Manager? Is this a modified version of Win7? |

I remember a while ago in diskmgmt there was about 10 gb's of unallocated space, so I merged it with my C: partition. I'm guessing that unallocated space may have been the recovery partition. I'm only 10% sure... My Windows 7 copy is genuine, it just looks different because I used a custom theme.

I think I should use my W7 disk I've already made. :) I just realized if I found that partition there'd be a lot of programs I wouldn't use... Thanks anyway guys!
