Windows 7: How do I reinstall XP

30 Sep 2012   #11

Check if you have a Recovery partition on the HD by tapping the key given on first BIOS boot screen to run Recovery. It might work.

If not you'll need to find an XP Home Premium SP3 OEM (not retail) installer which unfortunately are almost only available on torrents. So if you're forced to download this from a torrent make sure you read enough comments to be assured there is nothing added to it like an activation crack. There are usually a few around which are safe if you research it enough.

Then burn the downloaded ISO to CD using ImgBurn at 4x speed, boot it to Clean Install with the Product Key on COA sticker. If it starts up without Network Adapter driver then download that from the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC or the Device, install it, get online to do all of your Important and Optional Windows Updates which will deliver more drivers. After all Updates are done import any missing drivers from the model's Downloads webpage.

Ask back here if you have any other questions as you go.

Just start asking around, I`m sure someone out there has a legitimate retail or oem disc you could borrow.

To answer your question.

1) Start the pc, drop the disc in the tray.
2) Restart the pc.
3) Press any key when it asks you to.
4) Either delete all your partitions or just install windows to the same partition your using now.

Read up b4 you start.
