Windows 7: System Restoration Incomplete

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

I'm having a problem really similar to this thread:

System Restoration Incomplete when trying to re-install Windows 7

I messed up the partitions in my hard drive and Windows 7 didn't boot up for me. When I try using the recovery disks that I burned when first obtaining my laptop, upon restart I get the error message "Recovery Incomplete." I then installed Ubuntu which works fine, but I still want to be able to use my Windows.

In the previous thread, the OP was able to fix the problem by using diskpart. However, I don't see how to do this if my Windows 7 isn't even booting up. Ubuntu has a similar function to diskpart called fdisk but I'm very new to Ubuntu so I would have no idea on how to use it.

Just found that we can use the command prompt from a System Repair Disk. I'll go ahead and create this from another computer and come back here. I'm also currently downloading the Windows 7 SP1 ISO so that I can do a fresh install of Windows rather than using the recovery disks for factory reset.

I'm assuming that I should use the "clean" command in diskpart and not the "clean all" command.

Using diskpart and then doing a clean install of windows 7 worked. My only problem now is that I dont know which drivers are missing. (There is no driver for a wireless internet connection.) I'm going to see if doing all the updates will work to install missing drivers.

To see what driver are missing go into device manger.
Click start orb
Right click my computer
Select manage
Once computer management opens
On the left side select device manager
Then go to the manufacturers website and get the drivers.

Read carefully the steps given here to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7,
especially the section about how to handle drivers.

Once you download and install the wireless driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage, do all Important and Optional WIndows Updates to completion which will include new and other missing drivers. Then any which are still missing in Device Manager can be imported from the Downloads page.

Got it. I installed all the updates and mostly everything necessary is pretty much back to normal. I downloaded additional drivers such as one for a switchable graphics card off the manufacturer's website.
