    whats the good and bad thing of having a 64-bit system


    i know the basics like x64 can utilize more than 4gb of ram
    but i want to know all their advantages and disadvantages

    can the x64 can still run older apps and games??

    Over 90% of the time, yes. Probably over 95%. But some old applications won't even install on a 64-bit system. If your software is all from the last 8 or 10 years, it may all work fine.

    If you had 2 systems that had 3 GB of RAM and were otherwise identical, you probably wouldn't know which was 32-bit and which was 64-bit. Even with larger amounts of RAM, you might not be able to tell if that RAM wasn't in use.

    Sooner or later you will be forced into 64-bit, so you may as well use it if your hardware accepts it. I don't know that I would go through a week of configuration to do it---probably just wait until I had to do a clean install anyway.

    i have windows 7 x64 and found that older games will run under comaptability mode using xp sp3.
