Windows 7 Clean install & upgrade; black screen issue
Hi; so basically I'll start from the begginging;
My parents computer has been running on Windows Vista since they got it, the computer is a "Dell Inspiron 530" nothing special the only thing changed in it is a "Nvidia GeeForce 9500GT"
The specs are fine for running Windows 7, I recently got round to installing Windows 7 Home Premium (32bit) copying files, extracting goes fine; reboots and then nothing; I get the windows splash screen but nothing afterward, it just goes to a black screen (no curser visable) if i restart and boot in safe mode it gets past the splash screen but onlt to inform me that Windows cannot complete the installation in safe mode, if I boot up in low res mode then I just get a splash screen and once again a blank screen (no curser visable)
After a few restarts and a few hours of forums hunting for solutions I decided to install Vista back onto the system once the install was complete and I got back to my desktop I installed the Nvidia drivers and then did another install of Windows 7 but this time using the "Upgrade" option in the hope that it may be the graphics card or something needing the drivers :P
However this time I did get a little bit further; the install copied and extracted the files fine; rebooted AND then went on to do a few more installation processes; AFTER this however the system did its restart and same issue, Windows 7 splash screen and onto the black screen nothing else;
This time I restarted the computer and booted in 'Safe Mode' again but the difference was it came up it had reverted to the previous version of Windows due to the reset (reverted to Windows Vista)
Soooo my question is; has anybody else encountered the same issue?
Sorry for the wall of text but figured the more I include the better chance of resolving this is lol
Also; Windows 8 - Opinions? (for my computer) lol Worth it or just stick with 7?
