    Where and when did you format an Active partition?
    it wasnt active, i formatted it which had all my stuff on, then i clicked make active. it was using partition wizard

    You need to wipe the HD again which you can do by clicking on it to highlight it, then from Disk tab Wipe HD quick method.

    Then create and format a partition, Modify>Set to Active, OK, Apply. Try install.

    What do you mean you had all your stuff on it? It wasn't backed up?

    doing so now.

    and no sadly, i have some of it on my external HDD but ive lost a couple games, movies and college work!

    i apologise for the late reply! but you were correct in the fact that i needed to wipe the HDD as opposed to just formatting it! all is working now and has been a while, thank you very much sir
