Alejos,

Try disconnecting the IDE drive. Then install.

Not sure what you are saying - can you boot into XP fine?

Do I need to get rid of it somehow before making a fresh install?

Ok it worked and I'm installing it right now. Will my IDE drive be recognized by Windows 7 later?

Thanks!

Should be - if not , go to Disk Management - Click Action and then click Rescan Disks. Right-click any disk marked Foreign, click Import Foreign Disks, and then follow the instructions on your screen.

You may need to check there are no Active partitions on the IDE drive. Use a third party partition manager to rt click the Active partition on that HD and mark inactive.

There's a great free one here:

Partition Wizard is a Windows based FREE Partition Manager. It works as partition magic and supports Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008 server and Windows 7. FREE for Home and Business user.

Ah, well maybe your prob is the failed upgrade... what you need to do ( as MS said !!!), backup any stuff ya wanna keep, then FDisk ya harddrive, (or use a format utility from DOS), this will clear the crap, make the HDD shiny new again, and the boot of the DVD will see NO Windows, so will sail along like a turbl-charged turd....

Yeah I can load XP fine, it just doesn't respond to my failed install of Windows 7 version.
Also, what's an IDE drive and how to disable it?(I see people here that say it helped).
