UnSaFe, Did you try as I suggested to run setup exe from within your xp install? And you are right in a sense I donot understand the problem but I will try to. IT DOES NOT LOAD THE INSTALL SCREEN WHEN BOOTED FROM DVD!!!! So lets go from there and work on that. You said you have got this to work on another pc. So you are sure that its good to go. Maybe it is your dvd drive unit? Do you have any other iso that will boot from this drive?

If you mean this Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation then I'll have to explain to you that step 2 doesn't appear to me, because there's no installation window popping up

No that is not what I ment. The other part about running the install from your xp. you are able to load the WindowsXP on this computer? Right? Then put your dvd in the drive and go to My Computer / D (or whatever your dvd drive is). Double click on this. When it opens up and shows you the contents of this dvd then double click on set up exe and see if it will give you the install screen from there.

You would only be able to do that with the 32 bit Win7, not the 64 bit (his XP is 32 bit). As I said before I think this is a good solution.

Ok then UnSaFe, Have you tried to boot into the bios settings. If you can do that and see if your ACPI is enabled and try disabling ACPI in the BIOS. Or visa versa. Let us know if you are able to get to your Bios

I also want to add this to the solutions for installing windows 7, it happened to me, I would get all the way up to the splash screen for the win7 before you get windows install button. However, I didn't have a floppy in the computer(no one does anymore) though it was enabled in the bios and apparently the installer was looking for the floppy and just hangs, so disable it in bios and you will come up with no problems.
    This works

    Thanks
