    How can i convert logical drive to primary?


    hi i need some serious help here. my primary HDD died and previously my secondary HDD is setup as logical drive with 2 partition E & F

    i got all my stuffs in partition E then i tried to format & install windows in F but got error message saying something like could not find system file. how can i convert this logical partition F to primary so i can install windows on it? during start up/using diskpart command

    Current version of Partition wizard free bootable cd. ( older v4.22. is only needed for converting dynamic disks )

    I did an experiment about a week ago using ver. 7.6 and it did not give me the option to convert. I retried with 4.2 and it let me, that`s why I suggested it. But if the newer will work give it a shot.

    You are converting the hard drive you are working on, don`t worry about the dead drive or having windows installed. Just make the disc then boot from it to do the conversion. You will need a working pc, an iso program and a blank cd to make the disc. Use Imgburn.

    thanks. but my hard drive has 2 partition, E & F i have everything in E and i just want to convert logical partition F to primary partition so that i can install window on F. can it be done? OR should i have to delete whole drive then only able to create a new primary partition?

    Yes, you should be able to convert JUST the logical partition you want to install windows on.
