By the way, I found and did this:

    disable Secure Boot

But could not find either of these options in my BIOS:

Then enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module (CSM)
What PC are you talking about?

    What Make & Model?

Make your Recovery disks and save a System image as a secondary backup. Back up your files, unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, if this is a new Win8 PC look for a setting to disable Secure Boot. Then enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module (CSM). This should remove any EFI Boot Disk from BIOS Boot order. Set DVD drive first to boot, HDD second. Then set SATA controller to AHCI. Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10 to open a Command Box, type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SEL DIS 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)
    CLEAN
    CONVERT MBR
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=102400 (for 100gb partition, adjust as desired)
    FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="WINDOWS 7"
    ACTIVE
    EXIT
    EXIT

Next click Install Now to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

The purpose of creating the partition above is to wipe the HD and define an Active partition which resolves most install failures. Afterwards you can adjust the OS partition size in Disk Mgmt, create other partitions as desired.
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and looking for a helping hand.

Tried this procedure and it all went well and was at the Win7 desktop. When I did a restart, system gets stuck in a loop asking 'ESC to enter menu' and then back again. I played with some BIOS settings and can't get anywhere. I installed Win7 Ultimate on HP Pavillion 15 machine that was running Win8 previously.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Tony

I installed a copy of Win7 Pro and it seemed to work out without any changes.

Set your HD to boot first in BIOS, then trigger any boot media using the one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

Version shouldn't matter - they are all the same OS with just a few exta expensive features unlocked. Install the version you own from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which steps will assure a perfect install.

Greg is right. The version of windows you are trying to install should not matter as
The principle is generally the same. At
This point IMO I would do a format and completely wipe the drive clean and do a
Clean install of windows using the link my signature because even if you get
To the desktop you may still encounter issues if u don't do a clean install.

Hi Greg, I hope you can help me out with this, just followed your steps and did clean install. First time it booted to desktop just fine then restarted itself and now just does a loop and does not even load into Windows. I've tried changing the settings around and no luck, went through the installation again and still does the same thing. I've attached screenshots of the BIOS settings, secure boot is disabled and other settings seem fine?

My computer specs are listed in my profile, any more info please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.

1)Did you downgrade the UEFI/BIOS firmware to Legacy?

    2)What is first boot device?
    Windows Boot Manager
    or
    SSD.

Upgrade to win 7 is a good idea. Is there a selection for just legacy ? Legacy = it works.

I have chosen the Legacy but I have not downgraded it? is that something I need to do ?

The first boot option is: P0 TSST CDDVDW SH-224DB and there is not Windows Boot Manager...

@ SIW2, I changed boot selection mode to Legacy only, still have same result.
