Windows 7 64 bit install question

New here and I had a question on a Windows 7 64 bit install issue I ran into.

I'm installing this on a separate partition and my rig is a Dell Inspiron 1525 Core 2 Duo T5800 with 4GB RAM, 250 GB HDD, nothing special. But I did want to run 64 bit but for some reason my laptop won't install the 64 bit OS.

When I put the DVD in it says something like the OS is not compatible with your processor. Sorry for lack of screen shot. I checked the computer's properties and my purchase receipt from when I bought it and it says T5800 everywhere so I know it's a core 2 duo.

It did recognize the 32 bit OS and that installed perfectly and I'm running that but I really just wanted to know if I'm missing anything obvious anyone has seen whose installed the 64 bit.

I thought it was a bad ISO so I even downloaded it again and burned it again but same issue. Can you not install 64 bit on a separate partition that's not C:\?

Appreciate any advice on this. Not a huge deal. It's just really bugging me.

In a 32bit to 64bit change you must boot from dvd. reboot with the 64bit in the dvd player and boot into setup make sure the dvd is set to boot.

    Thanks,

I actually thought about that last night before I fell asleep and i changed by bios settings and set CD/DVD to boot up higher in the process. I'll run the DVD again tonight and see how it turns out.

    Thanks Ken!
