Windows 7 won't start up or install after upgrade

    Hi,
First post here and I'd like to ask forgiveness if this has been discussed before, it's just that none of the discussions I've read helped in this case.

So, I had perfectly working Windows 7 Ultimate x64 install on my system this morning. Today I upgraded my machine to following setup:
    Mobo: Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H
    CPU: Intel I5-3570K
    GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 660
Drives: 1 SSD and 3 spinners + DVD-RW, all on SATA
    BIOS version: F11

Trying to boot from the SSD where my current Windows installation resides I either get straight to bluescreen and instant reboot. If going to the repair option after this crash Windows boots to it just fine, but can't solve my startup woes. I can post details later if needed.
I ran chkdsk from the prompt and it only said that some of the non-allocated space was marked as allocated but was now repaired. The DOS-prompt has no problems seeing the disks or accessing them.

    Now this gets just stupid.

Trying to re-install Windows 7 from the very same USB-stick I've used before I can only get as far as Windows asking to locate CD/DVD drivers. Tried Gigabyte's provided DVD but nothing works, tried searching Windows install disk directories, but no. Whatever I choose the installer always says it can't find devices.

Seems like a driver issue to me, but how to resolve it? It just occurred to e that the Windows stick I have is pre-SP1 so maybe it probably doesn't have the drivers for my hardware, but why don't the Gigabyte DVD ones work either?

    Any help, please?

Today I upgraded my machine to following setup:
    From what?

If from a Non-uEFI BIOS to a uEFI BIOS.

UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with

I had EVGA 780i SLI motherboard before this.

With this BIOS, it's most probably not UEFI, right?

Edit: I've created my Windows 7 install stick pretty much like the tutorial on how to create Bootable UEFI Flash drive shows, if I remember correctly. How can I tell wether or not it is GPT or MRB since my BIOS options list other disk as P: "XXXX" and the Flash drive is just by name?

The DOS prompt doesn't seem to list efi/ directory, but could it be hidden or something? Oh, of course it's not since my former BIOS wasn't UEFI, am I right? Can I even create UEFI bootable Flash drive without UEFI booted system?

As you can probably tell by now, I'm way over my head here.

The Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H has a uEFI.

Clean the HD Drive, using Step one in this tutorial:
SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation
    Than type> convent gpt
& than Reboot PC to install.

UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with
UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 8 with

Boot the DVD/USB drive from the uEFI drive.

What is this command? I've seen it posted several times now.

    Do you mean "convert GPT?"
