Triple Boot Questions

OK, i want to triple boot Windows Vista, Windows 7 & Ubuntu 9.10

I've partitioned my 300GB HDD into 3.

Vista was installed on it first (C Windows 7 was installed second (A and i've got my Ubuntu partition ready to be the third as (U

I want to install from USB. Is it possible to run the setup and install within Windows?
Or do i have to boot from a DVD?
Also, what will happen to my bootloader? I assume that grub will take over the Windows loader which is fine whilst i use Ubuntu?
What happens when i want to uninstall Ubuntu? Does the Windows loader just kick back into effect or would i have to reinstall the loader?

Sorry for the plethora of questions. Just want to be sure of what i'm doing

No, you will need to run Setup from the live CD. GRUB will take over the boot loader if you let it, but there are ways around it. When you want to uninstall Ubuntu, unless you have worked around the takeover, you will need to repair your Windows installations from the repair disk.

Did you post this same query in any of the "Ubuntu/grub" forums ?

Seems they might also be able to provide clues, since its their Operating System/boot loader.

Your link takes me to "Windows Forums", which says:

I haven't posted in their forums as i thought this may be a simple answer for someone!
I've found a couple of interesting articles regarding booting from the USB though. Am i allowed to post them?

You might want to look here:

https://www.sevenforums.com/general-d...rum-rules.html

The rules are spelled out, and # 17 seems to address the "articles" you might want to post.

The -entire- article, No...

The way I read it is:
A teaser or opening paragraph; then a link to the site where the article 'lives'.

Quote:
17. Articles: If an article is from another website, then it cannot be copied completely here. That would be considered plagiarism. Instead it will need to presented in a teaser format with usually only the first paragraph of the article with the link to that website's article included in your post as a "Read more at....(link)" at the bottom. Please acknowledge the source, if at all possible.

You can install Ubuntu from a live/bootable USB stick. Grub should be able to setup a correct and valid menu.lst file.

I found an excellent piece of kit called Wubi installer.
it installs from within Windows and is easily uninstalled from the control panel, it automatically detects your processor and installs the relevant edition of ubuntu on any given drive, it also keeps the Windows boot Manager........very impressive program and takes the head-ache out of everything!!
