    Multible licenses

Our company purchased 20 licenses of XP PRO, years ago, from microsoft for our computers. My question is... I've pre-ordered a Window 7 Ultimate upgrade. If I understand things correctly, when you upgrade, microsoft "kills" the license for the older OS that you have on your system (ie XP PRO in this case), so it can't be installed on another computer. My question is this... I only want to install Windows 7 on one machine, so we can try it out. We do not want the license killed on the other machines, tho. I know, Windows 7 has not shipped out yet. But does anyone have any idea, if the licenses on the other 19 machines will be 'killed'? Or will they still be valid, in case we need to re-install window XP, on one of the machines. Thanks

    Belated welcome to Seven Forums.

It will depend on the type of license you have, your best bet will be to check directly with Microsoft.

The answers on Upgrades are only starting to trickle in now. We should have more soon.

If yours are similar to the retail upgrades then, the XP keys aren't 'Killed' they are tied to the Win7 upgrade key. Standard disclaimer, we won't know for sure until the reports start coming in. The general consensus is if you remove Win7 from the computer/Win7 upgrade key, then the XP key can be used again. You just can't use both at the same time.
