bootmgr is missing and edit windows boot options

hey guys. im having some issues installing windows from a usb after a hard drive replacement. im a novice at this and have been frustrated all week. ill try to keep this short, here goes... this is a sony vaio laptop about two years old.

replaced hard drive and upgraded ram as well. installed 1st recovery disk that came with the pc, second one was cracked. tried the recovery disks made when the computer was bought. nothing. turns out new HD was an advanced format whereas the old one was not so recovery disks were of no use.

downloaded windows 7 64bit iso file from mydigitallife and made it bootable to usb using command prompt. formatted it to NFTS, didnt seem to work so i used ultraiso. after changing boot order in bois i get "bootmgr is missing ctrl+alt+del to restart" usb is def bootable as it starts syncing immediately when plugged into another computer.

when i press f10 during power up i see "edit windows boot options for 'start vaio recovery center'" along with a few other things like path minint rdimageoffset, etc

also, i have performed hardware diognostics, vaio says everything is working well. any help is much appreciated. school is in week two and i can not get this to work. thank you in advance!

    Robert

What is now on usb? put that disk in a working pc and post a screenshot of that root folder with files (be sure to also show hidden and system files). Also post screenshot of disk mangement with usb attached. So I can see partition layout.

Hidden Files and Folders - Show or Hide point 2 and 4, so I see everything!

I downloaded the 64bit windows 7. I pulled up the specs from Sony and it said the laptop ran on 64 bit. I did not change the ISO file however I realized when I DL the file from digital river it was slightly over 3GB. But on the USB it reads 2.8GB... Not sure how that happened?? I copied & pasted. Ill have to check the size of the file in my DL folder. I'm in class til 9 but as soon as I get home I will do the disk par thing.

Ultra ISO usually always works, but the boot menu key on Sony is normally F2 so tap it at reboot to look for stick under USB, Removable or HD's - you may need to expand a listing. If not enter BIOS setup using the key given for that to set stick first to boot, then HD.

Bootmgr is missing means you're missing the chance to boot the stick.

But if some syncing is going on when plugged into another PC it might have become corrupted so I would reformat and rewrite it with Ultra.

Once booted follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 .
