    Hi gregrocker,

    Are you sure its ok to recommend a program, EasyBCD, which is breaking copyright law ?
    I would also be very interested in your explanation of how EasyBCD is breaking copyright law.
    I would read what it says in license and then examine what is installed in programs folder.
    There seems to be program code which does not belong to the company and it is not mentioned in license.
    So I think this is copyright violation.

    You cannot use foreign code in your product without copyright permission, not to mention even sell it.
    Maybe my understanding of copyright is wrong but use of foreign code without proper licensing is regarded even as a criminal act.

    I can use it, you can use it, everybody can use it, we all are not breaking any law using it I hope.

    The author or company of product has problems I think.

    Which code are we looking or in Programs Folder which does not belong to the company?
    How do we confirm this?

    @gregrocker, take your time.

    Read license and examine everything under
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\NeoSmart Technologies\EasyBCD" folder
    (could be just c:\Program Files..... on 32-bit Windows)

    I am sure you will find program code that does not belong to Neosmart and is not licensed.
    There are several methods for examining program code, just look for copyright notices.

    I am not accusing them of violating the law so feel no need to go fishing for this. In fact so far I think it's a dodgy accusation against one of the freeware tools that's been the most helpful here for countless thousands of users.

    Shawn needs to know these particulars as well since it's in several of his tutorials which are viewed as finest in the industry, and unimpeachable until now.

    Are you not able to tell us what is suspected illegal there? If not you put the Forums at risk by publishing unsubstantiated accusations.

    @Boyans,

    I think you had better ask Mahmoud himself.

    I understand he had discussions with MS and came to an arrangement with them - particularly with regard to distributing their recovery discs for a license fee, I therefore would assume he has clearance for anything else.

    If somebody told me there is foreign code in a product without proper licensing I would check.
    In a product license the use foreign code must be clearly stated !
    It is not fair to use foreign code and pretend it is yours !!

    I leave it up to Shawn and SevenForums to decide what to do with this topic.
    There are enough gurus on this forum to prove my statement.

    You can even ban me if you think I am wrong in stating that there is foreign code in EasyBCD product without proper licensing.

    Then why is it you can't tell us what it is? We're not the ones making the accusation, just showing restraint about freeware that has helped tens of thousands of users here enjoy multiple Windows OS's to the fullest.

    No one else has made this accusation that I know of, so where are the others you claim will back it up?

    SIW2 knows Mahmoud and suggests that any issues which might have existed were cleared up, at the same time NeoSmart (EasyBCD) began marketing Repair Disks under agreement with MS. Why did you not even acknowledge this important information?
