I did post the findings above was that not good enough? The validator would let me use the copy and past of the first page but the other tabs when I clicked on copy somthing poped up and said they they were saved to my computer. I tried to open the file but coud not??

Where is the code box? What file should I put in it?

That SFC / SCANNOW Command how do I do that? Just saw hw to do that scanning now.

    Thanks for everyones patience ;-)

    gregrocker said:
If SFC /SCANNOW Command does not help, a Repair Install might. You'd have to reactivate at which time you can find out if the key is genuine if you don't want to know now using the steps I gave you earlier.

We can determine with certainty if its genuine when you post back the MGADiag.exe report in a code box.

If not genuine you can buy a new copy, follow these same steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7, or you can install the licensed OS if a COA sticker is on your PC with a readable Product Key.

Please run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

There is a full illustrated tutorial for running SFC /scannow and Repair Install at the blue links in post above.

    Interesting MGADiag.
Let's reinstall the sppuinotify service and get it running.
I've uploaded an SPPUINOTIFY.ZIP file to my Skydrive at
    https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=936736BB8FCEB92F&id=936736BB8FCEB92F%21526
    Please download and save it.
Extract the contained registry file, and right-click on it - select Merge.
Accept the warnings - you should get a 'Success' message
reboot, and run another MGADiag report.

For what version and edition of Windows is the machine licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case or inside the battery compartment?

I think I posted it befoe it has a vista sticker on it, the build sheet from Dell shows XP and Vista. Dell offere to send me xp or vista reinstalation disc. I choose XP as I really really do not like Vista. The Disc was delivered today, I just want to make sure that ther eis nothing I can do w/ the WIn7 before I reformat the hd

If this was your corncern on the test:
    C:\Windows\system32>sc qc sppuninotify
    [SC] OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

If yiu notice I mispelle sppunintify and that is why it failed.

Will redo the test you asked for

You obviously found the file :)
    That's cleared the error

    The main problem remains, though.

The installation is counterfeit - with a Vista COA sticker, the machine is only licensed for Vista, and should only have a Vista SLIC table in the BIOS.
The apparent SLIC table is for Windows 7, but doesn't match the rest of the BIOS, and is therefore probably the result of a hacker's Activation Exploit.

You will have to reformat, and reinstall Windows using genuine media and Key.
