Problems Installing Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Hello, everyone. This is my first post as well as my first question on this forum.
I bought an ASUS N56VZ a month ago, pre-installed with Windows 8 Single Language x64 which I do not like. I have been trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 every since the first day I bought this notebook, I have done everything I could, but everything has failed. Now, I have come up with a plan, and I am going to post it here, along with my problems, and see if my plan will work.
My problem now is that I have a 1TB WD hard disk (GPT partition style) with 5 partitions and 222.51GB of unallocated volume. These are the partitions:
1. 300MB EFI System Partition
2. 600MB Recovery Partition
3. 150GB partition (Windows 8)
4. 537.9GB of storage space
5. 20GB Recovery Partition
(Ignore MULTIBOOT, that is my USB, which I plan to use as a bootable WIndows 8 Installer in case anything goes wrong. However, the setup has the same problem as Windows 7 setup, cannot be installed on GPT style partition, and this renders my USB useless)
Windows 7 setup cannot pass through the partition selection screen because it says that Windows 7 cannot be installed on GPT partition.
I cannot remember the other problems I have because there are just so many (I have solved some of them, some are just impossible).
My plan is:
I will enter the Windows 7 setup during bootup, press Shift+F10 to open up the command prompt, run DISKPART-->LIST DISK-->SELECT DISK 0 (my only HDD)-->CLEAN-->CONVERT MBR-->CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=153600-->SELECT PARTITION 1-->FORMAT FS=NTFS-->ACTIVE-->ASSIGN--.EXIT
...and continue with the setup.
What do you guys think? Can I delete the EFI System Partition and the 2 Recovery Partitions? What are the consequences, especially EFI system partition? I need your opinions on this, as well as suggestions for alternate ways. And please, do not tell me to continue with Windows 8. Much appreciated!
