Hi John. When booted into C post back a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mgmt drive map with listings, using the Snipping Tool in Start Menu/All Programs.

We can see by the System Active flags whether you can go ahead and delete D to repartition it or extend C - your choice.

Make sure it's C you've set up and are using in the meanwhile with nothing you need on D. It's the one which should be abandoned since C is the intended OS drive.
