HI Perrybucsdad its getting there thanks for the help . You have to love the forums

Booting in to OS is fine its creating a system image thats now a problem. I tried to create a system image of Vista and it now selects Windows 7 as well. No point making an image of Windows 7 as am sure that will not be usable with the retail version, or will it?

All my data is separate from the OS(s) then backed up using Karen's replicator on an external drive. Learnt from the past

Will keep you posted, cannot wait to get the retail version

Good man! Too many people don't do this and then cry when they loose all their photos, documents, etc.

yes it will. however Windows will only allow you to format that disk if it does not boot from it.

yes that is correct. So long as the system is capable of fully booting from the C: drive (for example when all other drives are disconnected), it will not hurt to format the J: drive because the system is not depending on the boot files being there anymore.
