I tried the WiFi driver again and it did the same thing as before. Asks me if I want to allow it to make changes, I click Yes, then a black box quickly flashes and closes. Nothing else happens. When I install the Ethernet driver, it actually shows it being installed. So I wonder if there's something wrong with the WiFi driver.
I can't believe how complicated it is to do this. I thought it would be like when I changed from Vista to. Windows 7. Between this and my Windows Phone, I'm seriously considering going with Apple.

Run all rounds of Important and Optional Updates after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

You can do this while you're setting up your desktop, installing Adobe Reader, Flash, Java, CCleaner, and your Office or other programs.

These will trigger other Updates so you should run them all before checking Device Manager for missing drivers.

Your Wireless driver was on the All Operating Systems Model Content Page listed as Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software(v7.5.100726; 05-09-2012; 19.05M)but first wait to see what Windows Updates gives you.

Hum Cam you are not having much luck with this puppy are you and the mass of Toshiba bloat isn't helping matters.

I found wireless drivers from the manufacturers Intel on page one and ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????) on page two or it could be the Realtek on page four thing is finding which one it is.

I got these from within that ref you gave us. Model Content Page#

You might be able to get a better idea of which it is by looking at the bottom of the machine and there will or should be a sticker with PART NO on it an it should give you a six alpha / five numerical /alpha model number on it that you need to quote to Toshiba if you can get any sense out of them. They usually ask for that number when you request support

Thank you both! I'm running Windows Updates now and I'll check the drivers again afterwards. But when I ran the Drivers updater it said No drivers found. Maybe I'll have better luck with the general Windows update :) ICIT2LOL, thanks for the links! I'm going to leave it alone while it updates but if it's still missing drivers afterwards I'll try your links and probably give Toshiba support a call too.

Hum Cam your last message didn't come through properly but looking at the email I would be getting onto Toshiba but out here they are or can be very long winded. Oh and don't forget to quote that part number as quoting the model number is no good because that stays the same the PART NO is where that machine was made for (region) fixed a Qosmio a little while ago and it was I found made for the US and th girl had purchased it from the US so Toshiba Australia were like having wings on a worm:)

It would be prudent to save a copy of those WiMax drivers in a safe place in case you ever need them again. I had beau coup problems with my old Toshiba and their wifi drivers on more than one occasion. Could be what brought me to this wonderful forum in the first place way back when. If so , then I owe Toshiba a very big debt of gratitude. But I digress...

Hello everyone :) I have the Toshiba Satellite S855D-S5120 laptop as well, cant stand windows 8 so I downgraded to windows 7 too, love it. Anyhow after hours of searching I was able to find working drivers for windows 7 x64. These drivers are from S855D-S5253 model but the WiFi driver is confirmed working, the S5120 has the realtek wireless card, at least mine does, anyways hope this helps, took the time to register just to post this because it was a pain finding them for me, lol.

The drivers are delivered by the installer and then afterwards from Important and Optional WIndows Updates, after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3).

There are rarely more than one or two drivers missing after all Updates are completed, which can be imported from the PC or device model's Support Downloads webpage.

Put your network driver in your backup and plug in by wire during install as you'll likely start up connected but if not can install the wireless/LAN driver quickly to get your Windows Updates.

I see situations regularly where those reinstalling have 4-6 drivers missing but haven't gotten their Updates installed yet because they didn't bother to connect and run Windows UPdates before claiming there are no drivers for Win7. So the first step after reinstall is always to get online to get Updates.

Other tips to get a perfect Clean Reinstall are the same for retail and OEM.
