    Which Windows 7 to install?

    Just bought this computer:

#4198 STROM SPAR Gaming / Multimedia COMPUTER | AMD: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör

Can anyone please tell what kind of windows 7 I am supposed to get?
I´ve checked this out but don´t know if it will work:

    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM Swedish SP1 - Kotielektroniikka - CDON.COM

Grateful for any kind of help,
    Adrian

    Hi jhadski,

I think it is a matter of preference, Windows Home premium is basically used for home users, whereas Windows Professional is used by both Home and Office use.
Please look at this info and what and what not is included in each version of Windows 7

Which Windows 7 is right for you? | Windows 7 Insider - CNET Reviews

Also bear in mind, that the Win 7 Home Premium version you are looking to buy is that of OEM.

Windows OEM versions mean that once activated it will be tied to the system it's installed on and is not transfreable to another computer, so if something happens to that system and it no longer works, the license dies with the system.

OEM versions of Windows 7 are identical to Full License Retail versions except for the following:

    - OEM versions do not offer any free Microsoft direct support from Microsoft support personnel

    - OEM licenses are tied to the very first computer you install and activate it on

    - OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

    - OEM versions cannot be used to directly upgrade from an older Windows operating system
A retail version is indigenous to one computer also but is transferable to a new computer if the need arises.

    Hope this helps

    Good luck

    Cheers

    That will work.

The version of Windows 7 that you need is based on your needs as a user.
Home Premium is highly likely to be sufficient for you.

For a comparison you can check here:
Compare Windows 7 - Microsoft Windows

The 'OEM' or 'Retail' license key only denotes the use of the license.
Microsoft considers OEM keys acceptable for use by system builders; you are not classed as a system builder because you are not building this PC.
It will still install and function as normal nevertheless.

If you require or want absolutely everything Windows 7 has to offer, go with Windows 7 Ultimate.
If you are a professional, power user, enthusiast, or basically do more stuff than just browse Facebook and Youtube on your computer, and don't require or want Windows 7 Ultimate, Windows 7 Professional might suit you better than Windows 7 Home Premium.
If you are just a casual computer user or otherwise don't intend on using your computer for anything other than very simple everyday tasks like Facebook, Youtube, and emails, Windows 7 Home Premium will be just fine.

As for me personally, I use Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop and Windows 7 Professional on my laptop because I wanted everything Windows 7 had to offer for my desktop and Windows 7 Home Premium was too limited for me.

I use a macbook for working and this computer will be just for gaming. Thanks a lot for all the help. So OEM is not maybe the right version to get. If I remember right it doesn´t matter which language you get since it´s possible to change that after the installation.

No, you can only change languages with Ultimate, so you want to get your language.

    Look again.

Compare Windows 7 - Microsoft Windows

Unless you need bitlocker ( highly doubt it and useless ) and want to change between 35 different languages, there is no reason to get anything other then Home Premium.

Personally, as most people have already suggested, I would go with Home Premium.
