When im editing i dont need other programs and yes ill have to reboot to start on the other disk but Avid is a bit tricky to run without failure and its cheaper than buy a pc only for editing

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

Avid runs very well on good hardware. Pinnacle's software runs from the same engine, and has been great since switching to the Avid engine. It sounds to me like you are having a issue with hardware, such as over-heating If the apps aren't need when Avid is running, that still doesn't mean a dual-boot is better. Dual-booting doesn't solve the issue you are having.

Ive no problems with my hardware thats for sure ! But anyone using Avid know thats even the smallest change can chrash media composer - both hardware and software changes !
Even avid supporters recommends no changes what so ever - if it works !
ive just uninstalled a program that crash my avid - so to be sure that i both have a disk for editing and a disk for ordinary uses ill have to dual boot if i dont want to buy a pc just for editing .
