Why would you want to dual boot the same OS on the same computer?
Usually this is pretty easy.
Boot from the DVD and install Windows 7. When it's all up and running all you need to do is repeat the procedure, just choosing the other hard disk instead.
I may be mistaken, but this would require two licenses, in order to remain activated, right? Either way, there's absolutely no reason to dual boot the same OS. It's a waste of space, and serves no purpose. I could see running on in a VM to test out software before you install it on the native system, but software issues are of little concern.
Welcome to SevenForums snedker,
This is found in the tutorial section Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and Vista
As well as many other good how to's. Good luck to you and I hope that you enjoy the time you spend on SF.
I run Avid Media Composer / video editing and to prevent chrashes iŽll use 1 disk for all my video software and another disk for other programs !
That's a good point. I'm not sure what the license policy is on dual booting the same OS. I figured he probably wanted to dual boot the 32-bit and 64-bit version but again I don't know if activation will work.
I think I'd work on solving the crashing issues then. If you need to use your other apps, don't run the video apps that crash. It's not like you could do both, with a dual-boot setup anyway. You'd have to shut down and reboot to use them. Simplify. Too many people on here insist on over-complicating their setups.
I want to use 64 bit on both disks but i canŽt use both on the same time ! so why 2 licenses ?
But if i had to do so iŽll buy one more !
My guess is that you could activate it twice, but you will run out of activations quicker and eventually need to call up Microsoft when it no longer works. You should consult the EULA to see if this behavior is accepted.
