Running windows 7 but thinking of using xp home premium, look inside.

running windows 7 but as stated in another thread having problems with the product key and getting fed up with the windows popping up about activating my windows 7.

anyway ive got a old pc with windows xp home premium on which im thinking of taking apart to use the case for my xbox 360 and keep the parts as spare incase needed in the future, If I download a copy of xp home premium would it run on a hp mini 110 and could I use the product key off the side of the computer on this hp mini to make I genuine?

might be a obvious answer but im not very clued up on my pc's I know a few things but not everything

    thanks in advance

P.S sorry for the bad grammar

If it's licensed to the same PC and you use the exact same version, yes. With Factory OEM XP you must use an OEM channel installer whereas with Win7 you can use the same isntaller for either OEM or retail.

So you'd want XP Home OEM with SP3.

If forced to download from a torrent make sure you read the comments closely to see that nothing like a crack is added as this will defeat the purpose of using the license you legally own and can be seeded with infection.

If it was a factory installed OEM version its not legally transferable to a different PC. You can try but don't be surprised if it fails to activate.

IF you're having trouble with a genuine version, you're not alone as Win7 has had problems in the past with flagging legitimate versions incorrectly. There are posts in this section dealing with how to fix this problem.

But, if it's a version you got through torrents -- then you're asking for such problems to happen.
