Update 7 installation media - DIY SP2
Anyone who wants to give this a try:
1. Put your win7 dvd in the drive, rt click it and select COPY. Then rt click your partition (e.g. C ) and PASTE. It will take a few mins and you should have afolder on c containing the installation files, like this: ![]() 2. Install WUD - tiny program: WUD250B1002Setup.exe [ Windows Updates Downloader (WUD) Program Files ] Get the relevant update list update-list-gdr-pour-windows-7-sp1-x86x64-fr-en-de-es-it Unzip the update list you downloaded and click the ulz file. Then the list will show up when you run WUD.exe Run WUD Select a folder to download them to ( e.g. c:\updates ). Recommended tick boxes as below - ( ie11 optional ). Then click Download button ![]() 3. Extract this onto C. UPDATE7v5.zip UPDATE7v5.zip NEW VERSION UPDATE7v7.zip Then RUN AS ADMIN on the .cmd ![]() And off it goes ![]() ![]() It will take a while to integrate the updates - probably half an hour or so. Then it will offer to make a bootable installation iso. NOTE: This assumes you start with the 7 iso that already has SP1 integrated. Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool NOTE: When you boot your updated iso, all editions will be available - however, only the edition you updated will include the updates, of course. |

My choice for virtual CD/DVD is (and has been as long as the program has existed) Gizmo. Tested many, never found easier, more versatile and reliable virtual CD/DVD program.

Gizmo is really good. All controls can be found by clicking the notification area icon.

@Kari -- I think this works fine as well --also for most version of Windows. Seems to be Virus free To use the Microsoft WSUS service you need Windows server which most people don't have but this little program generates the updates just fine. Of course the ideal; tool would be to slipstream all the updates into an install dvd / usb This downloads the WINDOWS updates. Portable Update: Update Windows in an isolated environment. The first. The best. This saves also re-downloading if you need to update several computers too. Your suggestion of GIZMO is also OK but I'm just offering another choice. _ Windows 8 has it's own .ISO mounting system built in but for W7 this is fine. Cheers jimbo |
