install xp on flash drive.

I have been fighting with this all day.

I want to be able to install and run xp on a flash drive.

Say a computer is running vista (i pop in the flash drive and boot xp instead)

I have tried plain installing xp to the flash drive with the cd.

I have tried various other solutions online that all ended in dead end.

What do i do.

Thanks
