    No BootMGR at startup

    Hello everybody,

I installed Win 7 Pro 64 bits for my computer, and Win 7 Home Premium 32 bits for my dad's one.

On this last one (old P4, LGA 775, P965 Express), I have a systematic issue at startup:
The system won't boot, unless the original Win 7 DVD is in the tray and the bios set up for DVD boot first.

    What is odd, is that:

    • the data on disc is not read (I don't touch anything at the message "click Enter to start from DVD Rom") => the disc is spinning but I know I'm actually booting from the HD

    • The disc can be removed once logged in

I tried to use the repair function on the DVD to check the boot sector with no luck...

I didn't install yet all the MB (Chipset, Sata...) drivers... 'cause I thought such an old hardware would be allready included in the Win 7 drivers. Could it be this problem ?

    Any help would be great.

You have a working installation which will not start up correctly.

You need to boot into the Win7 installer Repair console and run Startup Repair repeatedly until the system boots up on its own. It runs a series of tests and offers one fix at a time, so if there are multiple issues it needs to be rebooted to the installer and Startup repair run again - at least 3 times.

Let us know if this works.
