Oh sorry, I thought you changed the "Permissions". Anyway try restoring default sharing settings, here are my defaults:

    Attachment 263999
Just tried that and still doesn't solve the problem
...and the permissions? See the latest post of mine. You and me posted at the same time, lol
Yeah I noticed that lol. I tried the same exact permissions and it also didn't solve it. One thing I noticed also is that when you turn off the "share your public folder" in the Advanced Sharing Settings of your Network and Sharing Center the "everyone" group in the security permissions of the public folder is deleted. When you turn it on, it gets added automatically. I'm assuming yours is turned on. Either way, turned off or turned on it doesn't solve the problem on mine

The mere fact that the installer is able to "write" a shortcut.lnk in the public desktop folder then it should also be able to delete a shortcut.lnk file from the same folder without any problems. I'm at a lost here, I hope you guys can help me further.

It might be that you installed it at a time when there was no such problem so the shortcut was successfully written. Try putting something in that folder or deleting some useless shortcut manually, that can confirm things.

Do you have this trouble with a smaller/simpler app? (Something that I can play with.)

Does it only happen with MSI installers?

You mentioned iTunes. Are you using an MSI or an exe for that?

No, if you read my previous posts I uninstalled, installed, uninstalled, installed the app several times already. I did that just now and yesterday also and there are no problems when installing the app.

I tried uninstalling, just now, Wondershare Dr.Fone which also has its shortcut.lnk on the Public Desktop and I had no problem. Regarding Itunes, it is an exe file so I think this problem is not limited to MSI installers only. For so long, I thought it was just a problem with the installer of NVIDIA 3D Vision player but as I've mentioned I already tried installing and uninstalling it in another computer and there were no problems.

I just googled with that error as the search input and found that some other guys out there also have the same problem with Nvidia 3d vision but their problem remains unresolved. I have no idea about why you get this problem with some other installers as well.

Oh ok, so you're suggesting that this should be happening only with the nvidia 3d vision player installer?

No I read of this error with other uninstallers as well but Nvidia was at the top of the search results.

Unfortunately, I don't remember. And don't want to Google again. Just put the entire error in there and search for yourself.
