Moving Windows 7 disk or disk image to different hardware

With Server 2003 and Windows XP, you could do an "Inplace Reinstall" to move a disk or disk image to different hardware (if it wouldn't start because of a different "Hardware Abstration Layer")

I just moved my Windows 7 drive from a Dell Precision 390 to a Dell Precision T3400 and it won't start.

The "inplace reinstall" was a no brainer with Server 2003 / XP. Just put in the CD, Boot, select "Upgrade" and walk away.

Is there a similar no brainer for Windows 7. There is no Upgrade option when you boot to the DVD.

You can SysPrep to move HD to another computer and move an image afterwards.

Macrium Reflect sells a version of its recovery/backup software that allows you to "restore to different hardware" -- which will do just what you want. I know because I did exactly this myself.
