    Windows 8 to Windows 7

So, I downloaded an ISO file onto a DVD rom and I was able to successfully get my pre-installed windows 8 Hp desktop to downgrade to a clean Windows 7 Home Premium by using the DVD rom. Now the only question is if I am able to use a Windows 7 Home Premium Product Key on my Hp laptop for this desktop cause I don't have a product key other than that. If not, is it possible to buy a Windows 7 Home Premium UPGRADE version instead of the full?? (it's pricey ) Another question, or is it possible if I just use one of my friends product key that has exactly the same specs of my computer? If none of these are possible I'm going to have to buy a full version THANKS!

If the Windows 7 on the HP laptop is a preinstalled OEM version, no you can't use that product code. It's tied to that PC by the EULA. Also, even if it was a Retail version you can't use the same product code on two PC's at the same time. You could transfer it from one PC to another but its only licensed to be used on one PC at a time. And no you can't use your buddies keys, not unless they are new and have never been used before. Go out and buy a legitimate legal copy.

You may like to get a DVD & license key from a good source like:
Windows Download and Shop - Microsoft Windows
That way you will have a DVDx64 with uEFI support.

I would suggest not buying from ebay. People have nothing but problems with ebay keys.

Do as theog suggested in post #3.

That ebay product seems pretty legit. The feedbacks and price make it very tempting..

If it does not work as it should, then open a case. Ebay will refund your money.

Beware of prices to good to be true. If you want to roll the dice go for it. It's your money and your computer.

Problem is keys on ebay will often work initially and then get blacklisted at a later date when it is to late to get a refund as we have seen multiple times lately with people selling on MSDN keys
