Reinstall OS on Acer Aspire 5738z Win 7 or reset to factory settings?

    Hi
I have a Acer Aspire 5738z and I have tried in vain with the help of some good people here to get rid of the infection that has plagued my laptop, but it looks like it has won

    https://www.sevenforums.com/system-se...ml#post2389138

So I feel I only have 2 options left?

    Opt 1

I currently have this version ISO X 15-53758, but it is not listed as a ISO download, >> Windows 7 Direct Download Links << so can I use another similar ISO for Win 7 Home Premium? I have the 25 digit key, but this Acer did not come with a CD to reinstall?

    Opt 2

I have found this from Acer, so could I simply reset my laptop to factory settings? If it works?

    http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/ans...%2C7029%2C7339

A related Q is if I do proceed with this above I will lose all info on HDD? So can I set up a partition / drive so the new OS is seperate with the above process, where as now it is all on one partition?

Are there any known issues with this process or should find a ISO to reinstall with??

    Thanks in advance..

If I understood correctly you have an OEM version of Windows 7, and I doubt those iso files will match your product key. However the best way in my opinion is to use the built in recovery manager of Acer, where you create the necessary installation dvds and then perform a clean install. It should take 3-5 dvds to burn them, and you will lose all your data that already exists on the hard drive. Make a backup copy of all your files before proceeding with installation, in this way you will get a fresh drive.
Its a pretty straight forward process and it will install the correct version of your Windows, along with other softwares that came when you purchased it. You have to update the Windows as they are not included in those burned dvds.

Your choices are to run Acer Restoring a system to factory load,

order Recovery disks from Acer Support if you did not make them when the PC was set up,

or do the superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything you need to get a perfect install without the corrupting factory bloatware is in the blue link.

I Just installed, well re installed a Acer Netbook that was repaired but does not have DVD drive, so with advice from here I did it with a USB stick, so can I do this again with this notebook? Also with this re install Netbook I could not find the same NUMBER ISO as stated on MS sticker with 25 digit code so used a similar one and this worked? I did not have any CDs so just got drivers and stuff from the net.

Hi, With Acer Restore do I need to copy anything or can it be restored from data already on laptop? I mean basically select restore to factory settings and then after update drivers, etc?
I am sure I have the Recovery discs, somewhere

With Clean Install, as I said in previous reply I cannot find the correct ISO, but have used another similar one with that install, so I could try this?

Did you read Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 as the latest official installer is provided in Step 1 with tool to write to stick in Step 2?

If you already have a bootable flash stick installer with your licensed version and in the correct bit-version then you can use it for booted install.

If you'll not only read the tutorial but actually follow its steps then you'll get a perfect install better than 90% of those out there, and it will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods given.

All of your questions are answered in the Clean Reinstall link in my post above. Did you even see it?
Yes I did see it and I read it, but I am unsure what is included and not??
Maybe I am confusing a restore with Acer Restore and a clean install with USB or DVD?

There is not the same OS version listed, even you stated that in your opening reply.

The previous install was Win PRO and this is WIN Home

I gave you three separate choices you can make. The Acer Factory Recovery choices reinstall the factory preinstalled Win7 which is an inferior install corrupted by bloatware and useless duplicate utilties that have better versions built into WIn7 already.

The Clean Reinstall gives you an install with only the OS unleashed in its native state without smothering bloatware.

You are entitled to Clean Reinstall the licensed version printed on the COA sticker on bottom of laptop. MS forces manufacturers to provide this so you are not restricted to the factory preinstall but can reinstall the OS you own the way you like.

We provide the ISO to burn to DVD or write to flash stick as a courtesy to our members who did not receive a copy of the OS when they bought the PC.

    Any other questions?

OK, so the first option you dont recommend.

Where can I get the same ISO for this? From Win 7 forums?

    Thanks

Still you won't even read Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 after I ask you repeatedly?

The ISO is provided in Step 1 which I specifically stated just above.

Based on this I would suggest you stick with running Acer Recovery. Doing the Clean Reinstall requires close attention to detail.
