Oh damn, that's because you deleted it when you formatted. It was on your C: before.

What you can do is download a generic boot.ini you can find anywhere online. Copy and paste it into a notepad. Save. Place it at E: root and then do your editing to make it correct.

Good luck.

OR an alternative approach:

Repair XP boot.ini
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixthe...airbootini.htm

Then after, run Windows 7 startup repair from DVD because fixing XP will remove 7 from booting.

Ran XP repair for boot.ini... but when I try to boot into XP, I get the same 0xc000000f error regarding ntldr.

Alright, yeah. Probably have to edit the boot.ini still. Can you copy and paste the contents of boot.ini so I or someone else can make an educated guess what you should try?

lol where's SIW2 when ya need him? He's really good with this stuff.

Edit: Another thing that comes to mind - Make sure ntldr is on the root of E: too. Find that online if you gotta. Same for ntdetect.com file.

You know what, I really appreciate the help... but I'm going to try something different. I've got Acronis on here, and I've got backed up versions of everything, so I'm going to just restore everything and then create a second C partition for Win7... If it won't play nice, I'll just fool it.

Thanks much...

If you check your folders can you see "Windows.old"?

I'm trying it right now to duplicate it and i did get the error - 0xc000000f
i'll try to post the correct bcdedit syntax as soon as i figure it out
