Windows cannot be installed to this disk

    Hi all,

I would like to replace the internal hard disk of my laptop with another hard drive (SATA).
So before replacing I am trying to install windows 7 onto it as an external hard drive but the installation doesn't proceed!
I am trying to install windows7 from the executable file ("setup.exe") but not from CD or DVD (I don't think this will much matter)?.
When I connect the new HDD to my laptop via USB and I chose the new HDD as a destination, I have the following error message:

"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port.
Windows cannot be installed to this disk. This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu".

Any clue to solve this issue and properly install windows to the new HDD?

    Thank you in advance

Fit the new HDD as a internal HDD in the NoteBook.

You cannot install Win7 to external.

Burn the ISO to DVD or Flash stick correctly, boot it to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
following the steps in the blue link to get a perfect reinstall.
