Prepping for CLEANEST Win 7x64 install yet, hanging with Kaspersky
Hi folks,
After tangling with a pesky piece of malware yesterday, and having recently added a TV tuner card making this my only source of television, I'm ready to start fresh and do a clean install with retail 7 Pro DVD.
I don't think I read the tutorials very closely last time I was here and hadn't realized I can START with SP1 instead of original release. Boy will that be nice since I inevitably run into a windows update issue getting back to SP1 from scratch. So, I'd like to do the USB installer and wondered if instead of a flash drive I can use an older USB 2.0 pocket hard drive (BUSlink "USB2.0 Disk-On-The-Go/Lite") instead and that way I can fit all my gathered drivers on it as well? Does a BIOS know the difference or just sees both as drives and looks for boot media?
By the way I ended up in Kaspersky Rescue disk just to see if it would find anything (OS still bootable), and I ended up staying for a while and doing my driver gathering within this environment. It's nice and safe and I seem to have all the file manager and browser tools I need. Not sure if I can actually create the bootable media in here or not, haven't gotten that far yet. If anyone has a thought on this or knows something I don't yet, please chime in.
Thanks
EDIT: i see I need to run a Microsoft program to make the drive bootable with the .iso so that answers that part.
