Hi:
I am trying to download the Win 7/64 bit OS ISO, but it is hanging at 105 MB. The download is using my computers NTI CD & DVD-maker to download the ISO. The download says it has 5 1/2 hours left, but if hanging it could take days. So what's up here? Or what should I do to get the download to download?
I've stopped and restarted several times, but it just gets to a certain point and stops.

By choosing during downloading to open the ISO with that program, it downloads it to a temp file that is hard to find, plus that DVD burner will not work since the ISO needs a special ISO burner to burn it correctly.
For this reason cancel the download and download again choosing this time to Save the ISO (normally to Downloads folder by default) then after it finishes use ImgBurn at 4x speed which works to burn the DVD every time.
If it hangs again try another browser. I recommend Firefox which installs easily and works perfectly with rarely any issues.

I re-downloaded the ISO from a Digital River link, but when I opened the download it auto selects the NTI CD-DVD burner, it shows the NTI icon next to the download progress bar. I did click the save button as suggested and chose Firefox to open the download, but after doing this, it ran using NTI.
Also what is the difference in these Win 7 Pro 64 bit OS downloads?

I didn't go through the whole list, but rather confusing which one is the right one?
These MSDN subscriber downloads are available in ISO & DVD's. I read that installing Win 7 is quicker using a USB flash drive, than the CD's. Take into consideration I am a first timer doing this, so looking for the simplest method to clean install Win 7. If I can find the correct download...?

If you want to write the ISO to flash stick I'd use Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool which will prompt you to load the ISO file from its download location. You should never be trying to run this file anyway, so the burner crapware shouldn't come into play. I'd uninstall it and let Win7 reset the defaults to decent programs.
You want the third download.
Look over these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which will show you how to prepare for and get a perfect install even for retail.
Be sure during the steps for the actual Clean Install Windows 7 that you boot and not run the installer, and delete all partitions during Step 7 to create and format New as you wish.
Hey thanks gregrocker. In part two of the "How to create a bootable Win 7 USB flash drive" is the warning:
Warning
You need a USB flash drive with at least 4GB of free space, and the flash drive will be formatted to NTFS! So backup your data before creating this bootable USB, or you will lose all your data!
The question here is: I could interpret/presume this to mean, either backup all data on the computer, or the flash drive. I presume in this paragraph the author means the flash drive if there is data on it, correct?
I realize we should always have a backup[s] of the whole computer regardless of the situation. And I am deciding what the best procedure is to do a whole machine backup. External HDD, USB flash drive, ImgBurn, etc., or all three?

R. I presume you are referring to the NTI burner my machine auto used to do the Win 7 download, and I should uninstall the NTI burner crapware, correct?
My upgrade advisor to go from Vista 32 bit to Win 7/64 bit tells me to uninstall this program, as it is incompatible with and won't work with Win 7. So looks like I should uninstall the NTI program before installing Win 7.

Windows will default to Windows Image Burner for ISO files unless you install ImgBurn or another specialized ISO burner/mounting app like UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive or PowerISO, all of which are recommended here. Windows Burner may not burn the larger DVD ISO's slow enough although it works fine for bootable CD ISO's.

I did download ImgBurn a few days ago. I uninstalled my two NTI programs, so that shouldn't be an issue downloading the Win 7 Pro ISO image. I have used Firefox and Explorer, both do the same thing...hang. I'm at 14% downloaded now, been there for 3-5 hours now.
Any idea whats causing the hang?

When you select Save on the DR ISO download, it saves it by default to your Downloads folder. You can see the download progress by clicking on Firefox Downloads manager. There should be nothing else selected, no Firefox to open the download. Once it's downloaded you'll browse to it from ImgBurn or rightclick the ISO file in Downloads to Open/Burn with ImgBurn.
If it continues to hang run a full scan with Malwarebytes, power cycle your router and reboot the PC. If that fails in User Accounts open a new Admin-level Account, install Firefox and try again. If those fail you may need to download on another PC.
