    If you are installing to a HD with no other OS on it now, leave the key blank during install and then afterwards do the quick registry workaround in Option 3 of Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version to activate Upgrade version on a cleaned or blank HD.
    R. I left this upgrade/clean install idle for about a year as Vista was running okay. But then had problems with my printer and printer driver install errors. So I replaced my Vista with Win 7/64 on a new/clean SSHD using the "Clean Install With A Upgrade Windows 7 Version." Then later used the registry workaround download in Option 3 to activate the Win 7 Upgrade Version. So it worked as it should.

    Sorry for all the long winded questions, but the Win 7 CD install is fairly straight forward and self-explanatory. As a first time OS installer, going into the bios was the only be careful situation. But even that is a matter of pushing a single button on start up.

    My start up times to a Internet connected page with Vista and the original Western Digital HDD was anywhere from 2-4 minutes.

    Start up with Win 7 and the Seagate SSHD to a Internet connected page is 24-40 seconds. So much better all the way around. Plus having the optional 750GB harddrive for data storage is a plus.

    I used Windows Easy Transfer (WET) to transfer my "old Vista stuff" to my new drive, worked okay. I did notice that WET doesn't transfer Firefox bookmarks. Bummer, but I still have the old drive, maybe I could connect my old drive using a Sata plug --> USB cable plugged into my USB port to find and transfer the Firefox bookmarks to my new system?

    At any rate a belated thanks to Greg R., Vista King, etc. for your help and answers, much appreciated. Thanks again,

    Vista/HDD ---> Win 7/64/SSHD.... Win 10-11-12...?

    Sounds good except I would not use WET as it can lose data and the AppData settings it reimports are a corruption path into a fresh clean install. Better to just copy your user folders to backup and then into the new install.

    Firefox bookmarks require exporting to a file from the Import/Export utility on Show All Bookmarks link, unless you use Firefox Sync which requires the sync ID inputted to keep all your settings and Bookmarks sync'd on all your devices or after reinstall. You an google where to find the Bookmarks file now.
