Installing Windows 7 Ulti 64bit on SSD in a Laptop, error 0x80300024
Hello all, I hope you are having a good day and thanks in advance for looking and potentially helping me with my problem.
I have a laptop, Lenovo Y580, that came with an HDD only and no SSD. I Installed an SSD in the optical drive and have been using windows 8 on it for a while.
I wanted to go back to Windows 7 So I used the Windows 7 USB DVD Download tool to put the Windows 7 ISO onto a USB. After some research I;
1. Switched off UEFI and switched on Legacy Support (Or I would not have been able to see it as an option to boot using Win 8's Advance Startup)
2. I attempted booting using Advance Startup however there was an error when attempting to install on the SSD:
"windows cannot be installed on this disk. The selected disk is of the GPT partition style."
3. After searching up what to do I decided to delete the drive and "create" a new one and formatting it
3a. I also used diskpart to do this as well
4. However now it shows error 0x80300024 when trying to install
5. Solutions to this problem are
a) Remove all other drives, my other HDD - which I cannot do because I am on a laptop
b) Use Lenovo's RapidTool.exe which I am not totally familiar with but from what I know it formats and reinstalls the current drive. This would be fine if I did not format my SSD and I ran rapidtool.exe on there.
6. I used the HDD to backup my stuff from the SSD so I would not like to wipe it unless I absolutely have to.
I am stuck in a rut and would appreciate any help getting me out of it, I miss my 7
Much love ya'll!
