    Beta to RTM on 10/22

I have one computer at the moment. It had XP on it but when the 7 Beta was out, I reformatted the entire HDD and installed the new OS

I am a student and eligible for the Win741 offer, 7 Pro for $30 bucks

I know a fresh install is mandatory, but having the beta instead of the factory XP won't be a problem will it?

You're supposed to be able to install the upgrade discs coming from the RC.

And it's Home Premium and Professional upgrades they're offering through that student thing.

You shouldn't have to reinstall XP first. Just keep in mind that if you reinstall Windows 7 to a blank hard drive in the future that after a point they'll no longer activate the RC again. In that case you would have to put on something like XP first.

I'm not sure why you're talking about upgrade. According to several sources, the student discount applies to the full version.

The student windows 7 version avail thru www.win741.com is the FULL VERSION. I ended up emailing Digital River, the people that pairs up with Microsoft to sell their product online and got this OFFICIAL answer:

    Dear Customer,

Thank you for choosing Windows 7 Online store.

We understand that you are interested to purchase Windows 7 Upgrade
    through our online store.

    We apologize for the confusion.

The Windows 7 offered in this promotion is a full version.
    You can
    install this product even though
you do not have a previous Operating System installed in your computer
or if you want to make a multi
boot using Windows 7. The "Upgrade" included in the product name is just
    because Windows 7 is the
    latest Operating System Windows developed.

    Sincerely,
    Joanna A.
