    It just won't install

Ok guys so here's the run down, i've been using w7 since build 7000 (updated to build 7100) and i managed to get a free copy of windows 7 ultimate signature edition, went to install that, and during installation it got stuck at the completing installation phase, right after it resizes the screen. I let it run overnight to see if it was just non responsive for a while, no go. Since then I've tried the 32bit, the 64bit version, i've tried with a single stick of ram, with only my 750gb hard drive in, no usb devices plugged in (even used a ps2 keyboard), no lan and I've tried swapping the video card to radeon x300. I've also retried now with an MSDN copy of professional x64 still no luck, everytime it hangs at pretty much the same place....
Any bios settings that 7 install perticularly likes? I remember i've reset my cmos since I used w7 build 7100. Other than that the system is pretty much identical with no alterations that I can think of... this is driving me nuts! btw its always been clean installs that i've been doing. I've spent two full weekends trying to get my pc ready for this lame microsoft party and I can't even get it to install! If anyone knows what i'm doing wrong or a magical fix i'd really appreciate it:)

Have you tried installing say Vista or XP to see if the same problem occurs with either one of those. Not sure if it would prove anything, however, it would at least give you some ideas. Also if you are able to get one of those installed you may be able to do an upgrade, or even a clean install off of one the fore mentioned OS's.

You say 7100 installed and ran fine. Strange the RTM would not work. Are you certain the copy of Ultimate you got is good?

If you did a clean install, did you format the drive prior to installing, the small and larger partitions?

Try copying the files to another partition and running the install from there.
