Problems Installing...
I seem to be having a lot of trouble getting Windows 7 installed on my PC...
Let me start by posting the specs of my system.
Q6600 CPU
Asus P5E motherboard
2x Seagate 7200.11 500GB HDDs
2GB Crucial Ballistix RAM
Nvidia 8500gt =[
I first had Fedora 11, but decided to switch to Windows 7.
So I put the DVD in, and begun the installation.
Everything seemed fine until the last stage of the installation,"completing installation". I just got a BSOD, but it disappeared before I got a chance to read it.
I tried to install again, but had the same problem at the same place.
This attempt was done with my hard drives in RAID 0...
To try to figure what was causing the problem, I put a third hard drive in, a 500GB Western Digital (I believe...) Hard drive.
I tried the installation again, but this time on the new hard drive and it BSOD'd at the same spot.
At this point, I knew it was either the DVD or my hardware causing this.
I tried installing Windows 7 on another computer I have.
This computer has:
AMD 3200 CPU
ASRock AMN2NF3-VSTA
Some 250GB Western Digital HDD
ATI 1650
It installed perfectly, meaning windows was having some kind of problem with my hardware on the other computer.
So I decided to bring my hard drives down to the other PC, try to install it there, and then bring them back to the other PC, but when it got to the point where you selected which HDD to install windows on, it didn't let me choose them.
I thought maybe there was some kind of problem with RAID, so I un-RAIDed them and then tried.
At this point, the Windows installer didn't even see them, however, the BIOS does detect them.
This happens in both my computers.
When I booted into Windows XP to see if the hard drives were there, I did see them. However, when I try to access them, it says they are not formatted. And when I try to format them, it says that the drive cannot be formatted...
Suggestions?
