Help installing windows 7 from scratch.

Hello guys, I just joined the forum because I need some major help. I have tried over and over again but can't seem to install windows 7 properly, it always fails.
This is the error message I get:

"The installation was not successful. Changes made during the installation process are being undone."

I think this is most probably because my computer has a virus and a lot of my files are corrupted. I tried doing a system restore but my laptop turned off in the middle of it, which I think caused even more corruption.

At this point I think the best thing to do would be to wipe out my laptop's hardrive , so that I can properly re-install windows 7 on it. What do you think? I need some suggestion. If so, how do I go about doing this?
How do I wipe out the hardrive and install windows 7 from scratch?

Any help would be nice. Thank You guys!

Follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Be sure to boot the latest official installer w/SP1 and Media Refresh provided , then using the Drive Options pictured in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7 Delete all partitions, create and Format New, or just click Next and the installer will do it for you and begin.
