Over the past year, I have been continuously amazed that Win7 installer drivers are often more recent than the manufacturers.

They have spent a fortune on WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs) which is testing and beta releasing the drivers in partnership with the manufacturers.

The future begins tomorrow, with the greatest invention since the computer.
...so what would you guys recommend to go for - the SATA drivers on the Windows disk or from Intel's site dated 17/07/09????

    Hi there,

Am expecting to receive my copy of Win 7 tomorrow, have got my drivers ready but am wondering whether there is an issue with installing Win 7 onto a SATA drive.

Had issues when installing XP as it wouldn't recognise the SATA drive and wouldn't load the drivers either. Ended up making a slipstream disk with the drivers on which took a while to get right.

Does Win 7 install onto a SATA drive straight out of the box or will I have the same problems as I had with XP??

Any info would be appreciated :)
Kersey, a warm welcome to you from the Forum.
Without your sys specs it is difficult to give you an answer.
SFE, SATA connected storage devices should not be an issue.
This response is contingent on your BIOS settings, updates to your chipsets etc.

    regards,
    Adrian

Thanks for the welcome. I understand it's difficult to answer me when I've given no spec of my system .
Am typing this from work at the moment...hopefully will be up and running tonight with Win 7 so will update my spec then.

    Cheers

Kersey, success is contingent on how well one prepares.
IMHO review the STICKY notes at the top of the forum,
    review installation guides thouroughly.
EG: DVD or USB FLASH, ISO burn speed (SLOW AS POSSIBLE) FLASH DRIVE (BOOTABLE)
Also unplug all peripherals before you begin.
We will be here if you need us throughout the day and night.
