    Odd Upgrade Path

Hello folks, I really need some advice if you would be so kind. I haven't been able to find any info from googling from anyone trying to do what I'm doing. I looked over the dual boot tutorial and didn't specifically see anything that would help, but maybe I'm blind. I was hoping someone here would be able to tell me if this scenario is viable before I start?

Right now, I have a XP/Vista (32-bit) dual-boot system. I would like to put Win7 over XP, my primary with boot record, and preserve Vista as the secondary (I dont think I need it to be bootable but it would be nice I suppose).

Is this going to work? And a second question, if you would, can I make the Win7 replacing my XP partition 64-bit, with Vista remaining 32?

    Thank you kindly,

    -DrLee.

    Welcome to the forums DrLee....

    1. Yes this will work just fine... once you install Windows 7 over XP, 7 will recognize your Vista install and add it to the new boot manager that gets created...

    2. Yes you can have 64bit and 32bit operating systems on the same computer...

If you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask...

Wow, thanks Tews. I wasn't expecting to get this resolved so quickly.
