Apparently it's something in common in the services. I followed some advice in a social.msdn thread and it fixed it. Essentially, try re-downloading the files after starting in safe boot mode.

How to perform a clean boot procedure to determine whether background programs are interfering with a game or a program that you currently use

The files worked for me, didn't produce the file writing error either, so that's positive!
