Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit installation issue on UEFI mode

    hi.

I am having an issue with my current laptop (ASUS k46CB). I was trying to install Win 7 64 bit in UEFI mode but as it was loading windows flag, it just hang for indefinite period.

I was able to install using legacy mode but that does not help as I need to get my Win 7 installed in GPT partition.

Can anyone share some light on this issue ?

there was another thread opened but somehow I did not see any answers to my problem.

Are you booting the DVD in UEFI mode?

Follow the special steps required from UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums.

Make sure Legacy BIOS is turned off and UEFI listings are showing in BIOS Boot menu and bootable.

i actually did that. the prob is whenever i boot my windows using DVD, it will just stop loading at windows flag (black background).

i'm not sure if this is related to my laptop's graphic configuration (intel 4000 + nvidia GT 740M)

Try burning a fresh copy of the latest official installer ISO to new good-quality DVD from Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

If that fails try flash stick installer: UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows

You can also consider the solution which has always worked for those having UEFI problems: to Bypass UEFI to Install WIn7

I dont think DVD is the problem as i was able to install it via legacy mode.

I will try to install using USB and see if this works.

i actually need windows in GPT partition because i will need to boot it with fedora 19.

look like this will not work. My laptop uses UEFI 2.0.

Note that this technique will only work on a computer that uses Legacy BIOS - it will not work on a computer that uses UEFI.
