I think you are missing some of the important small details we are asking ?

Have you tried only 2gb of ram ? , etc.

Did you burn the ISO as a disc image, or a data disc...it needs to be burned as a disc image to be bootable..

Yup, removed memory, disconnected the hard drive. Made sure I was using no USB ports. I just formatted my hard drive but that doesn't seem to work either. I ran the HP diagnostic test and everything passed. Tried these discs on my laptop as well as another desktop HP computer I have and it works fine. Not sure what else I could do. I even through on my brand new 1TB hard drive that I just bought and still nothing.

I'm pretty sure it's bootable as I said before, I was able to boot it up on my Asus laptop thats running Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit. Exact same as what was running on my computer

Boot Disk

Good morning Andrew, I'm going to chime in on this w/"Tews"
The issue is that your system will not recognise the optical storage drive?
The optical storage drive contains a version of Windows 7 "Student d/l?"
Off the top of my very small brain several conditions have changed since you are migrating away from vista:
  • You have changed hard drives
  • Changed from X64 to X86 Vista
  • And last you changed bios settings prior to installing OS 7
There are a couple of work arounds for the issue.
First, do you have access to your hard drive, I remember you posted that you formatted your hard drive? If the answer was yes, are you able to partition the HD? IF the answer is yes, take the .iso extract the iso to the partition and execute the installer from within the partition.
If your system is not recognising the optical drive then you must bypass this install option and use a 4 gig flash drive.
Take the flash key and make it bootable, extract the iso image onto the bootable flash key and insert the key into your USB port and start the system.

Regards,
Adrian

I've brought it to my local computer to try and see if they can install it and still not reading the disk. They've tried using Windows XP 64bit and it booted fine along with Windows Vista 64bit. But Windows 7 wouldn't boot.

Alright, so after spending a couple of hours here. We finally figured it out. For some odd reason, DVD rom was not able to read the disk and nor did my other rom drive. We took another dvd rom and hooked it up using USB and had a seperate power source and it worked. I guess HP put a lock on the motherboard or something because connecting it straight through using SATA wouldn't work.

Thanks for your help.
