If the comp was running, the platters on the hdd probably made it toast.

Reconnect all cables to hdd and MOBO and re-seat the memory - worth a try.

Connect the hdd to another comp, if above doesn't help.

Can you access the info in the 2nd comp?
If you can, do a reimage to save all info.
If you purchase a Seagate, WD or Maxtor, you can get the Acronis Trueimage software (free) and make an image of your OS and

put it on your external hdd.

If you need to recover your OS ( including programs, updates, etc) you can do it with a few clicks.

You can also use Easeus for free and any hdd will work.

Seagate - DiscWizard | Seagate

WD - WD Support

Easeus - EASEUS Todo Backup Free 6.1 Download for Windows /

Make sure all cables on 1st comp are secure and reseat the memory again.

Can you open BIOS in original comp?

If you can, set to Default and try to boot.

If everything fails, I would guess you have a damaged Mobo. (hope not)

Run the maker's HD Diagnostic on the HD either from its bootable disk or from the Windows app while drive is slaved to another PC. This will tell you its condition. You may not be able to recover the data.

Once you replace the HD then do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything needed to get and keep a perfect install is in the blue link.
