Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit doesn't support 4GB RAM?

Hey guys and girls,
I have had Win7 Ultimate 64-bit RTM installed for a couple of months now, but there is one issue that I have not been able to solve for this whole time.
When I first went to install Windows 7, I had to remove a 2GB stick of RAM in order for the installer to even start without blue screen-ing on me.
So I took the RAM out and managed to get 7 installed (yay!). However, when I tried to reinsert the RAM, I got the same BSOD that I would when trying to install 7 with the other 2GB in. I gave up after a couple of tries, and it has taken me this long to try to solve the issue.
I am pretty sure that my specs are 7 Ultimate x64 compatible? Because if not, that is most probably the source of the error.
Otherwise, could anyone lend a hand? It really hurts having 2GB of RAM lying around in a drawer being useless.

Added:
By the way, install was a clean install from XP SP3 32-bit. Formatted all my HDD's.

This is a very common problem with Windows 7.

It's probably a BIOS issue. Or perhaps there's a Windows update for it. Try searching the forums as I'm sure this has been discussed many many times.

Do you think that the final version may not have this issue?

RTM is the final version. So yes, it has the same issue.

I've been searching and all I can seem to find is people saying that Win7 doesn't recognise the RAM. Whereas in my case, the computer will BSOD before I even get to startup.
I'll sleep on it for tonight (night where I am at least) and see what I can find tomorrow.
I'm all ears for anyone who could find a link to a thread that is similar to my issue, or try to resolve this specifically.

i am running win7 64 bit with 8gb of ramm
no problems here...

to check of you can run 64 bit
go to the system
then to the wei page...
under the score you can push for more details.....
and see iff you can run 64 bit

It should be clear that since the system is running 64-bit Windows, it can run 64-bit Windows..

This almost sounds like a bad RAM socket on the mobo rather than bad RAM...

Except that many people say the problem only occurs with Windows 7 and not other OS like XP or Linux.

I have 6gb of RAM. It is still a common problem for Window 7 not to install, when there is an excess of 2gb?

I ask because, if I try to install 7 (will received DVD on Tuesday) and I have a problem memory, I would prefer not to even begin the clean install process. I would not know how to remove the RAM.
