When I try to cancel the instal, because it's at the completing installation part it says cannot cancel the installation at this point, doing so might harm your computer or something like that. Should I manually shut down my laptop with the power button and restart the installation or what should I do?

I would see if it will finish.

Has the pc rebooted in all this time ? Please answer.

If it doesn`t finish in the next half hour I would start again, set the boot order to what I told you. Then use the 1 time boot key, F2, Delete, Esc whatever it may be, it will tell you at the bottom of the screen when the pc first boots up, it will be quick, so pay attention.

Then you choose to boot from the flash drive, it should be in the list, you may have to choose hard drive 1st then it should expand to show the flash drive, arrow down to the flash drive and hit enter, the install will start.

It so much easier to use a dvd, a flash drive can be quite tricky if you`ve never installed windows that way

I'm not sure, it's been on the completing installation stage all day, so I havn't seen if it has rebooted at all.

Where did you download your iso file from ? That way we will know if you have a valid non corrupted iso file.

Like I said Windows takes 15 minutes to install, so you can keep staring at the screen or try again, it`s up to you.

Please re read everything I`ve written ( everything ) before you start again.

I had already begun the installation when I started this post. Anyway, I'm going to restart the installation with an official windows 7 installation disc this time. Just to be clear how do I set the boot order?

I already told you, go into the bios and set the dvd drive 1st and the hard drive 2nd.

Put the dvd in the drive and reboot the machine and when you see the words "Press any key to boot from cd" hit any key on the keyboard and the install will start.

What version is on the dvd ?
